I wondered about fake; but after studying the video by pausing and stilling and studying at different angles, it appears to be genuine and that the creature is a charachupa.
I'm replying to the comment above... Come on, you can't be seriously believing this. Even after pointing you to the website that proves it's acted you still believe... I'm in total disbelief.

Ok, the website makes it seem real but I have two things to say about this that proves it's a fake. Number 1, the phone number, I've lived in Tacoma all my life and the area code is 253 not 323, that is an LA area code or something, and number 2, Washington does not have a Red Rock state park, that's in Arizona, unless there's a Tacoma in Arizona, but I highly doubt it.
and dude look at the motherf***in date it says feburary 14, do you think people's gonna go out hiking in shorts in tacoma, Washington in feburary. come on thats like the first evidence you should use against the video.
It's fake, you really think if a Sheriff's Dept. Website would be http://www.newbornpix.com/sheriff.htm then you have problems... newbornpix? Come on. Really? Plus it hasn't been updated since 2005, if it was a real website, it would have been shut down or updated in the last 4 years. Get real, it was a great hoax, but they really needed to check theirselves in their links and whatnot. It makes me sad that they didn't do that kind of research, it kinda ruins the myth. Could have been great.

Contrary to what I thought (and I lived in the city of Tacoma for a while) there is also a County by the same name but it is called Tacoma--Pierce. The sheriff's "website" is a dead screen and nothing more. If this were fake...and it indeed appears to be, then by even invoking the name of or otherwise involving the Sheriff's department, then all pranksters can end up doing some very serious time for staging a bogus "disappearing act" like that.
if they were that close to a meteroite impact of that size, there would have been debris fluing everywhere and they would have been knocked on their asses hard!!!!

Yes its got to be fake. If a meteorite hit that close the ground would have shaken and the would have fell on their asses. We are definitely not alone but this is not real. When the creature jumped out, my ass would have been at my car before it even hit the ground!!!

Mel I partially agree with you. I did the same procedure like what you did.But if that object can move in less than a second, given the nature of that camera, is that enough to captured the leap movement? I suggest that they should examine further the camera specification. But we must also consider the temperature of the rock if a living organism capable to survive in that kind of heat.
Im not totally saying that this is fake nor even telling that its true. I need to know the truth.

Okay first thing is ther phone number in an LA number. Second thing is simple physics. An object with that mutch mass, would have left a crator. The impact of the meteor would have killed them do to a shock wave. And finaly any occupents of the meteor would have been crushed to to inertia. An objet in motion tends to stay in motion while an objet at rest tends to stay at rest, unless acted upon by an outside force. This film was fake.however there is proof of alien life if you just look...
As a geologist, I can say it could only be fake because a meteorite that size would not have landed without some degree of impact crater. It was just sitting on flat ground. Can't argue with science... nice try!

Fake. The vel. Of that meteor would have caused Damage like you would not beleive. Plus, unless it was solid iron, the Extreme friction of earths atmosphere, would have burn/vaporized it before impact. The fact that it stayed that size, would have left an impact crater approx. 20 to 27 foot in diam. Based on the rocky surface. Of it were soft ground, deeper, and wider. And yes they would be severely injured, if not dead. Did you see all the rocks around it. They would have been peppered with the debris.... Fake.

It is a fake people, but however there are other life forms out there. I have seen things personally I can't explain. But just think about it,we serve a God that loves to create, you can see it all around you with the different plants, animals,insects,trees,and different life forms,and how all of us r unique in our own way.how every snow flake is different. And he create everything with purpose. I don't think that he would create this vast universe and different galaxies just all for us, and to think that we are his only creation is arrogant.we all ready see the many creations on this planet alone. Great April Fools Day prank when I saw it. First giveaway was their clothing--too light for February. Second--bad acting. Good try, but no cigar. Third-numbers and websites don't add up. No missing persons reports either. April Fool!
